Director of Morrison County Historical Society Leaving for New Role

(LITTLE FALLS, MN – January 27, 2022) Mary Warner, executive director of the Morrison County Historical Society (MCHS), is leaving the organization to take on a new role. Warner, who has been with MCHS since 1996 and serving as director since 2015, has taken on a position with the Minnesota State, Hennepin County, and Ramsey County Bar Associations, where she will be connecting the organization’s members to the resources needed to effectively run their law practices.

“After 25 years with the Historical Society, it was time for a change,” said Warner. “The pandemic really drove that home. This new position will allow me to focus more closely on direct member services. It will also give me and my husband more opportunity to help out with our grandchild, who, because of distance and the pandemic, we haven’t been able to see as much as we would like.”

The MCHS Board of Directors and Finance & Personnel Committee have started the process of searching for a new executive director, which will take several months.

According to Warner, “The Historical Society is in a good spot for a transition, with thoughtful and engaged board members and a multi-talented and dedicated staff. In addition, we’ve been creating accessible documents with the organization’s history along with policies and procedures for continuity.”

MCHS also updated its strategic plan over the past year, providing a blueprint of the organization’s goals for the future director.

“Though I will miss all the people I have worked with through MCHS and the fascinating county history I have had the opportunity to explore, I know I am leaving the organization in good hands,” said Warner. Her last official day with MCHS will be February 12.

The MCHS Board of Directors will name an interim executive director at their February meeting.
