We’ve recently added two new books to our gift shop offerings. Both are about architects, and, surprise! They’re both by the same author, Paul Clifford Larson. One is Cass Gilbert Abroad: The Young Architect’s European Tour. The other is Minnesota Architect: The Life and Work of Clarence H. Johnston. Both are hardcover and full of images. Cass Gilbert designed the Charles Weyerhaeuser and Richard Drew Musser homes in Little Falls, MN, on property that is now called Linden Hill. Cass Gilbert designed The Antlers Hotel (torn down in 1952) in Little Falls and the Northern Pacific Railroad Depot, currently occupied by the Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce. Gilbert and Johnston were contemporaries and friends.
Paul Clifford Larson is scheduled to speak at the Morrison County Historical Society’s annual dinner meeting on Sunday, October 7, 2007.
