The Weyerhaeuser Museum has a new exhibit, the result of our class for kids called “When Artifacts Speak . . . How to Mount a Museum Exhibit.” Five kids ages 12-15 took the class, 3 boys and 2 girls. They learned about the different elements in a museum exhibit, how to properly handle artifacts, and how to choose a topic within the confines of an exhibit team. The girls were interested in ladies’ fashions; the boys were interested in military artifacts. Bringing the two interests together resulted in “The World Wars Mishmash: Including the Home Front and the Battle Front.” Our students showed tremendous dedication to their exhibit, some of them returning after the class had ended in order to put some finishing touches on the exhibit.
To honor the accomplishment of our students, we are hosting a reception on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum in Little Falls, MN. The reception is free and open to the public. We hope you can join us. For more info, call 320-632-4007, or email us.
