On Sunday, September 18, 2011, we at the Morrison County Historical Society celebrated the organization’s 75th anniversary. The “legal” anniversary is actually September 17, the day in 1936 our Articles of Incorporation were filed.
We had a lovely crowd for our program, which featured the history of Kiewel Brewing Company as told by long-time Kiewel collector Chris Anderson. Chris had assistance from MCHS board member Gary Block. Among the guests were two direct descendants of Jacob Kiewel, founder of Kiewel Brewing in 1893.
Prior to the dinner and program, Jesse Grant of Brainerd Lakes Beer was on hand to provide samples of his company’s beer. Jesse is a Morrison County native and, thus, is carrying on the county’s long tradition of brewing.
During the program, we had a slide show of Kiewel items from MCHS collections running. You can view the slide show as a pdf document here:
We also had a 75th anniversary exhibit, an anniversary cake, an anniversary booklet (view here as pdf) and decor in the colors of Kiewel Brewing products – red, black and white. Of course we have pictures. Here are a few.
