Culled from donations to the collections of The Morrison County Historical Society from 2008 to the present, What’s New!?! is an exhibit celebrating the continuing renewal of history. The Morrison County Historical Society (MCHS) was established in 1936 by a small group of county residents who wanted to establish a museum “…for the education, information, benefit, and enjoyment of the people of Morrison county and future generations” (MCHS Minutes July 28, 1936). Since the first donation of thirty photographs in 1938, the collections have not only grown in size, they have become increasingly diverse. Items in the collections range from parasols and bear traps to MP3 players and plastic fast food toys. Each item helps to expand our knowledge of the world and plays a vital role in the Society’s ability to fulfill its mission, that of preserving and disseminating the history of Morrison County. What’s New!?! features items that specifically peaked the interest of museum staff. Stop in at the museum and check out the exhibit. You might be surprised by the stories it has to tell.
