Short Cuts to Home Sewing - 1923

Short Cuts to Home Sewing, published in 1923 by the Singer Sewing Machine Company, Inc., of New York, is a soft-covered book filled with articles designed to show the “average woman…the full possibilities of your sewing machine in the creation of the many stitched articles so essential to the comfort and pleasure of yourself, your family and your home.”  The foreward to the book describes the company as devoted to “…the solution of women’s sewing problems in every country in the world.”  Begun in 1851 by Isaac Merritt Singer, in partnership with New York lawyer, Edward C. Clark, the company quickly became the leading manufacturer of sewing machines in the United States.
