A Visit With Martin

We’re pretty excited here at the Weyerhaeuser Museum. Martin Richau is coming to visit. If you don’t know Martin, you should, particularly if you are interested in the Polish and German ancestry of Morrison County.

Martin has been a long-time friend of the Morrison County Historical Society, coming to visit us every so many years to conduct genealogical research, and speaking at our Family Trails event in 1998. Rather than simply going back in time to investigate his ancestors, Martin got curious about those  who had left Germany and come to the United States. He traced his family to the central Minnesota area, specifically Morrison County. He found a strong connection between Morrison County and Silesia, an area in Europe that has been historically passed back and forth between German and Polish ownership.

It’s been a few years since his last visit, but Martin is going to be in Morrison County again in early September. We’ve arranged for an open house – “A Visit With Martin” – on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Weyerhaeuser Museum in Little Falls. The public – that means YOU! – is invited to attend. There is no charge, so come meet Martin and bring your questions about your German/Polish ancestry.
