Northern Pacific Railroad Depot designed by Cass Gilbert, Little Falls, MN. MCHS Collections #1981.10.1

Inventory of Northern Pacific Depot Records Now Online

Through the Morrison County Historical Society’s Legacy Grant project to install mobile shelving in the Archives at the Weyerhaeuser Museum, we had archival consultant Mike Worcester sort through and organize 8 large collections. One of those collections, which was already quite well sorted, as Mike discovered, is from the Northern Pacific Railroad Depot in Little Falls, MN.

The collection includes 55 boxes of records between 1949 and 1973. It contains freight bills, way bills, payroll records, and correspondence, among other items. Mike typed up an inventory list from the collection and we have now posted that inventory online (17-page PDF) for railroad researchers and enthusiasts.

If you’d like to conduct research with this collection, please contact staff via email at contactstaff@morrisoncountyhistory.org.

Due to the pandemic, staff is spending limited time at the museum, so we don’t have ready access to our files. We are, however, responding to research requests as they come in, though it may take a bit longer than usual.

Please visit our Fees & Policies page for costs related to staff conducting research.

The Northern Pacific Railroad Depot inventory can also be accessed on this page of our website. It can be found under the Research/Archives & Library drop-down menu at the top of our website.

  1. I am looking for a historical picture of Peter Roy (relative) and Chief Hole-In-The -Day. It was said to be in the Court House, but when I stopped last Thursday and looked for it, I could not find it.
Do you have any knowledge of said photo? I’d love it if someone would take an iPhone picture of it and sent it to me.
    Thank you
