Weyerhaeuser Museum Closed November 18, 2019 – January 1, 2020
It’s a project that has been years in the making. The Morrison County Historical Society has long wanted to install high-density mobile shelving in our Archives at The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum in order to make more efficient use of the space.
Thanks to a grant from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund (also known as a Legacy Grant) received through the Minnesota Historical Society, we have been working through 2019 to have this shelving installed. And now we are on the eve of installation, which is scheduled for the week of November 18, 2019.
Due to the installation and the time needed by staff to rehouse archival materials on the new shelves. the Weyerhaeuser Museum will be closed to the public starting next week (November 18) through the end of the year. In the last newsletter to MCHS members, we announced we would be closed starting in October, but that was delayed due to our installer’s schedule. (The schedule change is why we waited so long to make this new public announcement. We were afraid the schedule would change again.)
New Hours for Weyerhaeuser Museum in 2020 (Thursdays Are Back!)
The museum will reopen Thursday, January 2, 2020, with new seasonal hours.
The new winter hours will be:
Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., closed on Sundays and Mondays.
These hours will be in place October 1 – April 30.
On May 1, museum hours will shift to 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. These summer hours will run until September 30.
We will be very happy to reclaim our Research Room and Library by the beginning of the year so they are available for public programming.
Thanks for your patience through this process.
If you need to reach museum staff while we are closed, please give us a call at 320-632-4007.
This project has been financed in part with funds provided by the State of Minnesota from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the Minnesota Historical Society.
