We’re introducing a new feature here at The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum. Because we have so many fascinating maps in our collections, we’ve decided to display a map per month. We’re not going to hang the maps on the wall, either, partially because most of them are too big to do this without damaging the maps, but also because people seem to like to view maps flat out on a table so they can easily point to features. To this end, our Map of the Month will be on a table in our research room, protected by Mylar or Plexiglas, so visitors can get up close and personal with it.
The March Map of the Month is a reproduction of an 1849 map of Minnesota Territory. Come check it out. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday year-round.
Hi Mary,
Love the idea. I think people are going to enjoy viewing the maps.
