John Karnowski served as the Chief of Police for the City of Little Falls, Minnesota, from 1947 until his death on October 22, 1955. Karnowski was appointed chief upon the retirement of Herman Trebiatowski, under whom he had served as police captain. Karnowski was born in 1888 in Swan River township and married Stella Posch (Rudnik) in 1913. John and Stella had nine children – six sons and three daughters.
Donated by Cathy Schlumpberger of Golden Valley, Minnesota, this photograph is part of the Martin & Cele (Cecelia) Schweitzer Collection. Cele was the sister of John Karnowski.
I’m a genealogical researcher, looking for info on some ancestors of mine: Walenty Karnowski, and Martin Karnowski. Could someone trace back thru John Karnowski’s father, etc to see if there is a relation?
Gerald Schmidt – We would be happy to do research for you on the Karnowski family in Morrison County. If you have not already done so, please visit the Research section of our website for a list of fees and resources and let us know if you would like to go forward with research. Thanks!
