The creamery was the heart of small communities around Morrison County throughout the late 1800s and well into the 1900s. Farm families made regular trips to bring cream to their local creamery for processing. To celebrate the central role played by creameries, the Morrison County Historical Society is presenting “Buttered Up! Creameries of Morrison County” as the theme for its upcoming annual dinner.
“Buttered Up!” will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at the Bingo Park Community Building in Randall, MN. The history of creameries around the county will be presented via images and artifacts. The restoration of the Randall Creamery, now The Old Creamery Quilt Shop owned by Linda Thesing and Janelle Johnson, will be featured, including tours of the building. Ricky Turner, who will be catering the event, will share his stories of working at the creamery.
The MCHS annual dinner will start at 4 p.m. with a social hour. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m., with the program and tours of the creamery to follow. Cost of the dinner is $15 per person. To make reservations, call 320-632-4007.
