I finished our Financial Policies & Procedures Manual and our Artifacts, Archives & Research Policies & Procedures Manual yesterday. Part way through the process, I asked myself what was taking me so long. Then I did a word count and understood. The financial manual came in at 15,469 words on 52 pages. The research manual is 7,364 words on 24 pages. If I were writing fiction, both would fall within the word count range of a novelette. Two novelettes within a few weeks? Not bad. Our manuals might not reach a best-seller list near you, but they sure come in handy around here.
