In 1948, Daniel J. and Charles P. Persons, father and son lumber dealers from Wisconsin, opened the Persons Lumber Company on West Broadway in Little Falls, 1½ blocks west of the city limits. D. J. was the proprietor and Charles was the manager. The Persons family had moved to Little Falls in 1946 from Roberts, Wisconsin. Constructed during the summer of 1948, the Persons Lumber company continued to operate in Little Falls until the 1960s.

The three digit phone number is fascinating.
Yes, it is, John. There’s a whole history to phone numbers, which would be fun to investigate some day.

My brothers found this while just surfing the net. It is truly amazing to see that you have a carpenters apron from my dads and grandfathers old business. A great bit of nostalgia for us. Thanks for sharing. Brings back old memories. I have a picture of them in the office that is a real keepsake.
Regina – We enjoy sharing what’s in our collections and seeing how each piece connects with people. Often, that’s how we get additional historic information on artifacts. If you have more information on your dad and grandfather’s business, we’d be happy to hear about it and add it to our files. Just send us an email at contactstaff@morrisoncountyhistory.org with whatever you know (when business started, where it was located, stories your relatives told you about the business, etc.). Even a little info helps in our understanding.
