On September 4, 2010, the Motley Area Historical Society, in conjunction with the Morrison County Historical Society and Morrison County Genealogy Society, will be hosting The Gathering, a fun-filled event inspired by local history and family stories.
The event begins at 10:30 a.m. at Veterans Park in Motley with the dedication of the Motley school bell and an American Legion Color Guard presentation.
At 11:30, the event moves to the Motley Fairgrounds, where there will be music by Daryl Larson and Barb Cline, and the Vagabonds, storytelling by MCHS Executive Director Jan Warner, children’s games and prizes, a chicken dinner, and refreshments and snacks. The chicken dinner costs $7 for adults and $5 for children.
At 1:00, a number of activities will take place in the Motley Fairgrounds Pavilion. These include exhibits by the Motley Area Historical Society, Morrison County Genealogy Society, the Morrison County Historical Society, and family and local history exhibits from residents of Motley. The DVD “Printer’s Ink Saves Motley History” will be played and self-guided historical Motley tour maps will be available.
Ann Marie Johnson, MCHS Curator of Collections, will be discussing artifact preservation for the Morrison County Historical Society exhibit in the Pavilion.
The Gathering ends at 4:00 p.m.
Because our museum staff will be fully occupied that day, the Weyerhaeuser Museum will be closed on the day of The Gathering.
