Collections Carousel – P. J. Lauermann Lantern Slide

WHEN YOU SMOKE, SMOKE Union Mark CIGARS
WHEN YOU SMOKE, SMOKE "Union Mark" CIGARS, circa 1915

Another of the four lantern slides belonging to Peter (P. J.) Lauermann (1882-1969), a cigar manufacturer in Little Falls, Minnesota, during the early twentieth century, this slide includes a graphic of the newly-emerging twentieth-century woman.  The young woman is wearing a knee-length short-sleeved red dress with black fringe trim, has bobbed hair and is holding a cigar in her right hand, suggesting that she (shockingly) smoked.
