We have some good news for our researchers. The 1892 Plat Book of Morrison County was digitized this spring as part of the Minnesota Digital Library (MDL). Minnesota Digital Library, the website of the MDL, features resources, including our plat book, from a variety of research institutions around the state. It’s the MDL’s goal to assist organizations with digitizing portions of our collections and posting them online in order to afford the public more access to these great resources.
We were especially keen to digitize the 1892 plat book because not one of the 11 copies in our collections is in pristine condition. The one we had digitized was the best one available. By having the book digitized, we are hoping that the public can take copies off the web for personal (not commercial) use, rather than having museum staff make copies from the actual books. This is our way of helping to preserve the originals, while still providing access.
Even though the plat book is available on Minnesota Reflections at this link, you won’t be able to find it by searching through the institutional collections because the Morrison County Historical Society is not listed yet. The process to get all the links up takes a while, so we’ll have to be patient a little longer. In the meantime, if you want to access the plat book, there is a link in our sidebar under “Pages” that will help you get there.
Please tell me how to access the 1892 Plat book step by step, because the instructions don’t seem to be helping?
thank you.
So sorry about that! It seems the links on this page are down. However, you can access our online collection of plat books by going to this link. From there you should be able to select the 1892 Plat Book and view it.
