The “License Question” In Morrison County

 

At one point in the county’s history, villages and townships would frequently vote on whether or not to ban the sale of alcohol within their limits. The “License Question” or “Local Option” as it was known, has been a part of the state’s legal landscape since 1870.  Virtually unheard of now, prior to National Prohibition, the state was awash–no pun intended–with option elections.

Expanding on the two-part series in our Summer and Fall 2022 newsletters (Vol 35, No’s 3 & 4), this slide show chronicles the story of the License Question in Morrison County.
