Tattoo by Alex Navarro at Cream City Tattoo
St. Cloud MN, July 2018
My grandmother Sarah Rush lived in Glennallen, Alaska for many years during her adult life. Through her kitchen window, she had the pleasure of staring at the Wrangell Mountain Range while she did dishes and prepared food.
She loved flowers, especially lilacs and tiger lillies. Before she passed away in February of 2018, she told me that she wanted us to play the song “Spirit in the Sky” by Norman Greenbaum at her funeral. She loved that song. As a memorial, I decided to ask Alex Navarro to put together a piece of artwork that would honor her through images of things she loved.
