Morrison County Historical Society Hosting Preservation Talk by National Register Historian
Denis P. Gardner knows historic structures. As the National Register Historian of the Minnesota State Historic Preservation Office, he reviews the eligibility of properties for the National Register of Historic Places. He also assists people with the process of nominating properties to the Register.
Gardner is the author of several books, including “Minnesota Treasures: Stories Behind the State’s Historic Places,” “Wood, Concrete, Stone, and Steel: Minnesota’s Historic Bridges,” and “Our Minnesota State Capitol: From Groundbreaking Through Restoration.”
Gardner will be giving a talk about historic preservation at The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum on Saturday, August 24, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
During his talk, he will be discussing the renovation of Minnesota’s State Capitol and the history of the National Register of Historic Places. He will also explain what makes a property eligible for the National Register. He will include Morrison County properties that are on the National Register in the course of his talk.
