Our new online exhibit, We Are Happy: An Exploration of Joy in Early Photography, is now online! We went through our archives to find examples of people beating the stereotype that early photography was a wholly serious, grim affair. These photographs show people laughing, friends playing, and beloved pets, all captured for perpetuity. All as a reminder that no matter the time period, people are people. You can find the exhibit by clicking on the above link, or through navigating on our website menu to the Online Exhibits dropdown.
