Our new online exhibit, We Are Happy: An Exploration of Joy in Early Photography, is now online! We went through our archives to find examples of people beating the stereotype that early photography was a wholly serious, grim affair. These photographs show people laughing, friends playing, and beloved pets, all captured for perpetuity. All as a reminder that no matter the time period, people are people.
