Patience in the museum field is a critical trait. It can take ages to do what on the surface seems to be an easy task, like identifying the people in photographs. We’ve had a page of unidentified photos on our website since 2006 and in that time, only one photo has been identified. Until now.
MCHS board member Camille Warzecha was able to partially identify the following photo:
The couple on the left in this photo are the aunt and uncle of Camille’s husband Robert. They are Ed Lesmeister and Angeline Warzecha and they were married on September 8, 1934, which means we now have a date for this photo. We still don’t know who the other couple is, but this narrows things down a lot.
Incidentally, I checked the local newspapers to see if I could find a wedding announcement for Ed and Angeline. No luck, even though two newspapers mentioned that they had gotten a marriage license. I was hoping to be able to identify the other couple through Ed and Angeline’s announcement because it looks as though this may have been a double-wedding ceremony.
Thanks, Camille and Robert, for helping us identify this photo!
