Agfa D-6 Cadet Box Camera, Circa 1935

This Agfa D-6 Cadet Box Camera, manufactured by Ansco of Binghamton, New York, belonged to Stephanie Schubert of Pierz, Minnesota.  Stephanie had purchased the camera when she was a teenager.

AGFA (Aktien Gesselschaft für Analin-Fabrikation) was organized in 1873 from a company founded in Berlin, Germany, in 1867. The company produced chemicals for photography, including the film developer Rodinal, which was introduced in 1892 and continued to be manufactured until 2007.  Agfa made many different models of simple box cameras, including the D-6 Cadet.  In the United States, Agfa went into partnership with Ansco in 1928.  The merged company later became known as  GAF (General Aniline & Film). Today the AgfaPhoto brand is licensed by the German photographic company, Plawa.  The company focus is on digital photography and photographic accessories.
