Ed Bergan's Little Falls Transcript Newspaper Carrier Bag, circa 1940
Edward Bergan, son of John and Magdalyn (Voll) Bergan, was one of many newspaper carriers for the Little Falls Transcript Company of Little Falls, Minnesota. John and Magdalyn came to Little Falls after their marriage in 1923 and lived mainly in the southeast part of the city. Edward had a paper route when he was a boy and used the bag to carry specially-rolled newspapers to local subscribers. Today, many newspapers are read online and deliveries are usually done by adults, often by car, eliminating the need for an over-the-shoulder newspaper bag.
