Vernon Nerge (1919-1936), the only child of Arthur and Hazel (Swart) Nerge of Little Falls, Minnesota, died at the age of 17 after several months of illness. Vernon lived his entire life in Little Falls, attending the Hawthorne school and the high school. This photograph may have been intended as his senior portrait. Vernon’s father, Arthur, worked for the Pine Tree Lumber Company, the Pure Oil Company and Larson Boats in Little Falls.
