The Morrison County Historical Society Board and staff are happy to report that Representative Ron Kresha has introduced a bonding request for physical improvements at The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum and property. The request will aid in mitigating the serious erosion issues on our bank overlooking the Mississippi River, along with updates to the nearly fifty-year old museum such as enhanced ADA compliance, a new roof, replacements of doors and windows, and improvements to better our energy efficiency.
Senator Nathan Wesenberg has introduced Senate File #867 as a companion bill to Rep. Kresha’s. Both bills have been referred to their respective chambers Capital Investment Committees. Co-sponsors are actively being sought and a couple are already committed.
We asking if you would be able to offer a letter of support from HF616/SF867. Demonstrating local support from a variety of sources and organizations would definitely aid in our application for bonding funds. We also ask that you consider reaching out to the legislators you come in contact with during your work to share the museum’s value to the county and ask them to support this new bonding request.
You can find an example letter Here, or feel free to come up with your own!
