Done partially at age 18, and again at 38 and 40.
The hummingbird represents my grandfather. When he died, a hummingbird came to every window of the women in our family. I was 5. As I grew older, when I prayed to my grandpa during difficult times, he answered with signs. So, at 18 I got the hummingbird on my right shoulder. Since then, with the passing of each grandparent, a hummingbird has visited my window.
The eagle is now connected to the hummingbird to represent my father. When he died, bald eagles showed an eternal presence during difficult times. The weekend before my dad passed, he told my sister that he loved a picture of a bald eagle on a veteran headstone.
Finally, my tree is my image for the serenity prayer, which my dad introduced me to as a child and it has continued to provide me with a sense of peace and serenity.
