My grandmother is a direct descendant of the first king of Scotland, Kenneth I “The Great” McAlpine, and so is Queen Elizabeth. This piece represents and tributes that heritage as well as my French, German, and Irish Ancestry. The castle is purple for royalty. The dragon in Western Medieval art is a power symbol: Guardian of the “house,” master of air and fire.
