Morrison County Historical Society member Mary Palmquist recently brought in this Armistice Day issue of The Duluth News Tribune to share with us. We snapped a few photos to share it with you. The date is November 11, 1918, the end of World War I.

This newspaper belonged to Mary’s husband Jim’s father, John. Jim’s uncle, Harold Carlson, served in France in World War I. He became a citizen of the United States during his service in the war. His minister in Sweden had to sign a document in order to allow him to emigrate.

This year, 2018, is the 100th anniversary of the World War I Armistice.
