The Morrison County Historical Society has a large collection of photographs related to county history. Subjects of photos range from business buildings to cultural scenes to logging images to Mississippi River scenes and more. The Historical Society also has studio photos and snapshots of families and individuals.

In 2003, with the help of enthusiastic volunteers, MCHS added 1,964 new images to its collections through a project called Uncommon Focus: Images of Morrison County. The purpose of the project was to capture current images of structures and scenes from around Morrison County.

One photographic subject is quite lacking in our collections. We have very few historic photos of houses in Morrison County. There has been an upsurge in requests for these photos due to an interest in preserving and restoring old homes. If you have photos of county houses (any date will do) that you can bear to part with, please consider donating them to MCHS. Call 320-632-4007 or email for more info on donating photos.

Researchers who visit the museum are allowed to look through the Historical Society's photo collections. Many photos are identified, but many are not. Researchers who recognize a photo are of great help to museum staff in our continuing task to identify photos. A photocopy of a photo can be made for the personal use of a researcher at our standard copy fees. If a higher quality photocopy is requested or the researcher wishes to use a photo for publication (book, website, article, other uses), the Historical Society's Photo Use Policy is followed and a Request for Permission Form must be filled out.
