In reading through past minutes of the Morrison County Historical Society, particularly at the time The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum was being built, I ran across this little tidbit from the January 21, 1974 meeting:

“After considering several possible names for the building, members agreed to propose the name, The Pine Tree History Center.”

Pine Tree Lumber Company, which operated in Little Falls, MN, from 1891 to approximately 1920, was one part of the larger Weyerhaeuser lumber company. The museum was destined to have a name related to the lumber industry.
