Reminder: Conversations w/Jan on Horizon

Just a reminder for our readers. Conversations with Jan will be starting this coming Friday, February 6, 2009. MCHS Executive Director Jan Warner will be leading a discussion of the effect of the W.P.A. on Morrison County during the Great Depression of the 1930s. The W.P.A. was one of many federal government programs initiated to revitalize the economy and get people back to work.

Conversations with Jan will start at 1:30 p.m. at The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum in Little Falls, MN. There is no cost to attend. No reservations needed, either, but if you want more information, give us a call at 320-632-4007.

If you can’t make it to the first session, there are three more you can attend, one on each Friday in February (the 13th, 20th, and 27th).

  1. Hi! Will the discussion be more about the effects of the WPA, or about the actual bios? I’d like to know how they were set up…did people volunteer, or were they asked? And how were the writers chosen?
Wait, the WPA was MORE than historical biographies, right? Heck, I might still come to it! lol

BTW…the website I gave is my family history blog–the museum is gratefully mentioned there–and Pierz and Buckman are mentioned often. Might be a cool thing to encourage others to do…and then list Morrison blogs HERE, on Skimming the Cream! Some of us do most of our genealogy online–and setting up a blog is a piece a’ cake. Wouldn’t that be fun?
    Ok, see ya Friday–
    Marlys
